Completed Scan: Australian Macworld 2004-2010

Everyone goes through stages in their life where they identify with a certain community or culture. For some people it’s a genre of music, cars, a sport or similar. For me it’s Apple between 2003 and 2013, which is why I’m grateful to @georgeharito for donating his personal collection of Australian Macworld magazines from 2004 to 2010 for me to scan.

You can check them out on the Internet Archive now.

These magazines span most of the period where I was running MacTalk (an Apple community/website I co-founded) and was deeply obsessed with Apple. Flicking through each page reminds me of a great time in my life that I look back on fondly.

Australian Macworld is also a magazine closer to my heart than most, as the publisher Niche Media, purchased MacTalk in 2011. I wrote a few articles for Macworld (fucked if I can find them now, but I did!) and it paid my bills for a few months. Unlike most magazines where I just flick through the pages as an outsider looking in, I was involved with Australian Macworld and knew many of the writers personally so it was fun seeing stories from them over a decade later.

Unlike the Electronics Australia mags, these were easy to cut and scan. If you notice a few massively deskewed images I’ll get around to fixing them eventually – this is due to the auto deskew feature picking the wrong reference point to fix and I didn’t review it prior to uploading.

I would love to complete the collection of Australian Macworld, so if anyone has issues not already on the Internet Archive please get in touch!
